Ministry Opportunity On Easter

Media_httpprofileakfb_byajg

From the Facebook Page:

Do you like Jesus, children, Rick Warren, or the Jonas Brothers??? If you answered yes, then you should come to the Saddleback Church's easter Sunday program at Angel Stadium!

Isabel Monje, the director of Global Transformation Ministries, needs help chaperoning lots of kids who may or may not have been introduced to Jesus yet. If you would like to sacrifice you Easter Sunday to help these kids out, Isabel and I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you know of anyone who will still be in town this Easter spread the word to them.

Let me know if you would be interested. Nick... 818-472-6625. Or email me at nicholas.billing@vanguard.edu. P.s. this event will most likely NOT be soul-care credit, but you will get brownie points with Jesus if you go :) Thanks all!!!

FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) Museum and Galleries

Media_httpfidmedureso_psvvr

If you're interested in film costumes this is a fun place to go and it's free.

Current Exhibit:

Hollywood 2010: The Art of Motion Picture Costume Design

February 9, 2010 – April 17, 2010

The following is from their website:

They're ready for their close-up! Don't miss the 18th Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibition, where you'll get an up close look at over 100 costumes from over two dozen of last year's movies, such as The Young Victoria, Star Trek, Julie & Julia, An Education, Nine, Broken Embraces, and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. It's a rare opportunity to freeze the action and marvel at the imagination, artistry and intricacy of the costume designs. Also on display are the fashions from The Duchess, the Academy Award® winner for Best Costume Design in 2008.

The free exhibition is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Did You Know?

This year's exhibit also features two films with costume designs by FIDM Grads: Aliens in the Attic, designed by FIDM Grad Mona May, and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, designed by FIDM Grad Marlene Stewart.

Star Trek Costume Designer Michael Kaplan was not a fan of the original TV series and had not seen any of the previous movies. View the Star Trek trailer from Paramount Pictures.

The Young Victoria Costume Designer Sandy Powell made Victoria's coronation robe completely from scratch, starting with the fabric. The intricate embroidery from the original robe was recreated by printing and hand painting.
